Hernan VUGA

Baritone

Hernan VUGA is an Argentinian lyrical baritone from the prestigious Instituto Superior de Arte of the famous Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires.

Within this Institution, he plays the main roles of "Gianni Schicchi" by Puccini, "Eugene Onegin" by Tchaikovsky, Count Almaviva of the "Marriage of Figaro" and Guglielmo of "Cosi fan tutte" by Mozart, Parmenione of "L'occasione fa il ladro" by Rossini, etc.

Hernan Vuga began her training in Argentina, with Martha Fornella (singing) and Marcelo Lombardero (theatre), and joined the Operaestudio du Teatro Argentino de la Plata de Buenos Aires. He then continued his training with Marcela Esoin and Graciela de Gyldenfeldt at the Instituto Superior de Arte of the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires. 

Among his scenic experiences, he plays Bobby in "Mahagonny" by Weil, Guglielmo of "Cosi fan tutte" by Mozart, the Maestro in "Der Ja Sager" by Weil; at the famous Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, he plays Parmenione in "L'occasione fa il ladro" of Rossini, then participates in the Mussorgsky cycle "Songes and dances of death" with the Centro Experimental of the Teatro Colon.

In several theatres in Buenos Aires, he also plays the roles of Count Almaviva of Mozart’s "Noces de Figaro", Sam in Bernstein’s "Trouble in Tahiti", Ping in Pucini’s "Turandot", and Gianni Schicchi in Puccini’s eponymous work.

Hernan Vuga also won numerous prizes at various Contests: Chamber Music and Opera at the Concurso Scala in San Telmo, the Bienal Shell Musical Festival prize, and also won the American Society Competition Alejandro Cordero, in Buenos Aires. He is also a finalist of the Palau de las Arts Competition in Valencia, Spain, and of the International Competition of Belcanto Vincenzo Bellini in 2018, in Vendôme, France.

Hernan Vuga also integrates several Masterclasses with a selection by competition: those of Renato Bruson at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy, and those of Sherryl Milnes and Joyce di Donato at the Salon Doré at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires; it also follows those dedicated to the Russian repertoire with Elena Vasilyeva, Larisa Dyadkova, Sergei Leiferkus, Lyuba Orfenova and Alexander Humala, in Holland. He also attended Bernarda Fink’s Chamber Music classes at the Salon Doré at the Teatro Colon.

In addition to the above-mentioned works, Hernan Vuga also has many other roles in his repertoire: he plays Ricardo Forth in "I Puritani" by Bellini, Aleko in the eponymous work of Rachmaninow, Silvio in "Pagliacci" by Leoncavallo; he is also Onegin in the eponymous work of Tchaikovsky, Albert in "Werther" of Massenet, Aeneas in "Didon and Aeaeée" of Purcell. In the belcantiste repertoire, he plays Parmenione in "l'Occasione fa il ladro" by Rossini, Belcore in "Elisir d'amore", Malatesta in "Don Pasquale" and Alfonso in "La Favorite" by Donzietti. Hernan Vuga also plays Georgio Germont in "La Traviata" by Verdi, Valentin in "Faust" by Gounod and Dancaire/Morales in "Carmen" by Bizet. He also had the opportunity to play Marcello/Shaunard in "La Bohème", Sharpess in "Madama Butterfly" and Ping in "Turando" by Puccini.


Since 2018, he has joined a Master of Music in Performance at the Hochschule für Muzik in Würzburg, Germany, and is improving notably with Jochen Kupfer.
